From Our Home to the University: A Milestone for Tabitha Home
At Tabitha Home, we’ve always believed that providing a roof and a bed is just the beginning. While safety is the immediate priority, the true measure of our work is where our children go once they walk out of our doors. We don’t just want them to survive; we want them to lead.
This month, we are celebrating a milestone that feels like a dream come true for our entire community: eight of our children have officially transitioned to university. Even more inspiring, seven of them have just resumed their studies at the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI), and one child at Ajayi Crowther University.
While we celebrate these eight pioneers, they aren’t alone. They join a growing family of scholars. Currently, Tabitha Home is standing behind 22 resilient young people across various private and tertiary institutions.
Seeing 22 of our own in higher education is a dream realized, but it is also a massive responsibility.
A Foundation of Stability
These eight young adults aren’t just names on a list; they are children who grew up within the walls of Tabitha Home. For many kids who have faced trauma or abandonment, the path to higher education often feels blocked by invisible walls. By providing a “Legacy of Stability,” we’ve given them the room to stop worrying about where their next meal is coming from and start dreaming about who they want to become.
More Than Just a Piece of Paper
To us, these admission letters are more than academic milestones; they are certificates of resilience. They represent years of hard work, healing from the past, and the unwavering belief of a community that refused to let them be forgotten. Seeing seven of our own join “The Premier University” is proof that with the right environment, every child has the potential to reach the very top.
The Journey is Only Beginning
As much as we are celebrating, we also know that an admission letter is just the starting line. The transition to university brings a new set of heavy responsibilities. As these eight pioneers move into their dorms and start their lectures, the “hidden costs” of a degree become very real:
- Tuition & Fees: Keeping their seats in the lecture halls secure.
- A Place to Stay: Finding safe accommodation that actually allows them to study.
- Books & Research: Giving them the tools they need to stay competitive.
- Daily Living: Ensuring that a hungry stomach never gets in the way of an inspired mind.
Raising the Next Generation
We aren’t just raising students; we are raising Nigeria’s next doctors, engineers, and social leaders. These eight individuals are living proof that the cycle of poverty can be broken when we choose to invest in a child’s future.
Walk This Path With Us
The road from an admission letter to a graduation gown is long, and frankly, it’s expensive. To keep these 22 dreams alive, we need partners who believe in the long-term transformation of a life.
We are looking for sponsors and donors who will stand behind these scholars. Whether it is covering a semester of tuition, helping with safe accommodation, or ensuring a student has the books they need to stay competitive, your support is the bridge between a dream and a degree.
