International Day of the African Child 2026: Promoting Personal Hygiene for a Healthier Future

On June 16, Tabitha Home joined the rest of Africa in commemorating the International Day of the African Child, which this year focused on the theme, “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa.”

The theme serves as a reminder that access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices is essential for every child’s health, dignity, and future.

At Tabitha Home, caring for children goes beyond providing shelter and education. We are committed to raising children who understand the importance of healthy living and personal responsibility. To mark this year’s celebration, our children actively participated in activities and discussions centered on personal hygiene and healthy habits.

Through practical lessons, they learned the importance of regular handwashing, oral hygiene, personal cleanliness, and maintaining healthy surroundings. These simple habits play a major role in preventing diseases and promoting overall well-being.

The day’s activities were filled with learning, interaction, and fun as the children joined millions across the continent in celebrating their rights and well-being. Highlights from the celebration were shared on our Instagram page. Watch the video here: International Day of the African Child Celebration at Tabitha Home

As we celebrate the children of Africa, we are reminded that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, safe, and empowered.

At Tabitha Home, we remain committed to providing holistic care that nurtures children physically, emotionally, and socially while preparing them for a brighter future.
